doritosaddict @ : Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah record duet!
Terry Morrow: Dolly Parton hooks up with Queen Latifah for royal duet
Even before filming begins on their musical-comedy "Joyful Noise," Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah -- an unlikely musical pairing if there ever was one -- got together in the recording studio recently.
"We were in (Los Angeles) doing some pre-records and had a good time," Parton said. "Oh, I am going to love working with her. I just love her. We are going to be very compatible personalities. We'll have tons of fun.
"We sounded great together, We were very happy. Our voices blended so well together. We're doing one duet together with the choir
(featured in the film). I got to write four songs for the movie. The duet is a song I wrote."
Parton couldn't reveal much more about her musical contributions to the film, set for theaters near the end of January, 2012. "(The studio) doesn't want me to talk much about that right now," she said.
"Joyful Noise" brings Parton, a Sevier County native, back to the big screen after nearly 20 years. The comedy will focus on a widow who wants to take over her late husband's show choir but butts heads with the new choir mistress, a role Latifah will play.
"Joyful Noise" will begin production at the end of January, 2011, in Atlanta.

Has anyone seen this in any of the stores yet?
I just picked it up at Wal Fart yesterday for $10. It's got three Dolly CDs - White Limozeen
, Eagle When She Flies
, and Slow Dancing With The Moon
. It's available in two configurations - one just puts the CDs in their separate cases into a slipcase box, while the one I got puts the three discs into one 3-CD cardboard eco-wallet. Sony BMG's done this for several other country artists, like Brooks And Dunn, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Montgomery Gentry, Kenny Chesney, and Martina McBride. (I saw hers at Wal Fart yesterday, and I want it too. Hers has The Time Has Come
, My Baby Loves Me
, and Wild Angels
, and I have none of those. But I digress...)
They've been doing this with old catalogue DVD releases for a while, so it's nice to see them do it with CDs too. It's really nice to add three Dolly albums I didn't have - on CD OR MP3 - to my collection for a great price. The only thing that would have been more awesome is to maybe do it like a four albums on two CDs type thing, since any two of those albums would easily fit onto one disc. Maybe disc 1 could have Rainbow
and White Limozeen
on it (It'd be a great excuse to bring a not-so-successful album back into print - put it on a set that contains a Gold and two Platinum albums. But this is really just me actually loving Rainbow
and wanting it back in print.) and disc 2 could have Eagle
and Slow Dancing
on it. Also, for the eco-wallet version, the booklets for all three albums might have been a nice inclusion. But considering that buying these albums separately could cost me $20 or more and I only paid $10 for the set, I'm not gonna grip too
I'd like to see them do this for other singers too, including outside of country music. I know for years, they've done stuff like releasing two or three albums in a slipcase, but it's rarely this cheap. It'd be a nice cheap way to add to my collection of albums by other artists. If just Sony did this, they could release ones by Mariah, Celine (they've released SOMETHING, but idk if it's like this or just three CDs packaged together), Barbra (she kinda has one, but I think it either is like a longbox box set or a slipcase holding the regular CDs), Whitney, Dixie Chicks, and about a zillion others.

Musicals, Moonpies and More...
Hello again. As usual, I've been a busy little bee the past several weeks. A big part of my time has been spent in New York working on all the final tweaks on the songs for "9 to 5: The Musical" which opens on April 30th, with previews beginning on April 7th. And I've been having fun hanging out with the cast while they're in rehearsals. I'm a big, big hit with all the cast and crew because I take loads of Moon Pies and Goo-Goo Clusters, both made in Tennessee. Mmm-Mmm good! I would worry that I'd be making the fat before the show opens, but they tell me that's not a problem with all the dancing that they're doing. I have noticed a few little pouches on some of the bellies that are not dancing in the show.mine included. (HA!)
We finished the "Backwoods Barbie" video. Trey Fanjoy has done a wonderful job. She is such a joy (a fan joy) to work with. Even Perez Hilton was captured in the video, a walk-by. Watch for him. The little girl who played me as a child in the video is too precious for words. I hope you love the video as much as I do. You should be seeing it any time now.
We've done lots of press and interviews since I've seen you. We even did an unplugged mini concert on CMT, as well as doing several of the CMT shows along with other media outlets on other networks. We've been to DC, New York and Atlanta recently talking about "9 to 5", the 75th Anniversary of the Great Smoky Mountains (for which I'm the International Ambassador, as I've mentioned), as well talking about "Sha-Kon-O-Hey", the musical at Dollywood that I've written eight new songs for, which I've also mentioned.
I've had fun, also, meeting with all the folks at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and working on promotions for the new CD "Backwoods Barbie, The Collectors Edition", which will be available only at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. We took pictures rocking in one of the beautiful pink rocking chairs with my logo and name, available also only at Cracker Barrel. Dolly Rocks! (Ha!)
We're still working on the new DVD and CD "Live in London O2 Arena". There's a lot more work involved in these things than one would imagine. But, like the video, hopefully it will all be worth it when we're finished.
The 24th season of Dollywood opens March 26-28, so we're gearing up for that.
Whew! Do you think I need to get myself an extra job? Wish me luck; and I will update you soon.
I will always love you,
